Assessment
Once you complete your Health History Form, I will make sure I review it before your arrival.
When you are here, we will discuss goals of treatments, and begin assessment. Each assessment will be a little different depending on what you are wanting to work on, but it usually takes about 15 minutes and can include:
-
Palpation (feeling muscle integrity and bones for imbalances and/or misalignment)
-
Posture
-
Range of Motion (to look for constriction)
-
Gait (the way you walk)
-
and any other special tests needed
This all helps me to get a feeling for muscle tensity and body imbalances that can be contributing to pain or conditions.
These assessments help me to have a better understanding of what is happening in the body and why, so we can find the root cause of the problem and come up with a treatment plan.
How the process works...

Creating a treatment plan together...
Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)
Treatment Options:
It is your choice whether you want a:
-
relaxing, nerve calming, fall-asleep kind of treatment
-
a more interactive, activating/healing treatment
-
OR...combining the two and being intuitive with what your body needs, so you can get the best of both worlds!
This is a physio-like treatment that incorporates massage and resistance stretching with breath work and mind-body connection to help:
-
loosen muscles
-
decrease trigger points
-
increase rang of motion
-
retrain muscles to have a new healthy memory and pull bones back into place if out of alignment
-
while also retraining the proprioception of the brain to activate and strengthen muscles again after periods of not using them due to injury or stiffness

What this can look like is either incorporating some movements into the regular massage treatment where needed, OR if you would like to realign your hips, this would be almost all PNF the entire treatment while fully clothed in comfortable bottoms you can stretch in. If your hips are contributing to your main concern, I like to address them at one of your very first treatments so we can help the main issue, then everything we do after that will add to further healing.

Energy Work (Mind-Body Connection/Emotional Processing)
I specialize in helping people overcome heavy emotions and traumas that keep them from moving forward in living their best lives through connecting with the body. Emotions can get trapped in the body when not properly processed and end up manifesting physically through the body with pain, imbalances, conditions, and disease.
Our bodies have incredible innate healing mechanisms within them that we can access...if we choose to. There is a language that our bodies speak to communicate with us. They hold infinite wisdom. They know how to be well. They know what they need. It is in connecting to the body, becoming present, feeling its rhythm, becoming aware, and becoming one with it.
We are an entire ecosystem of living parts...all working together to create what you call, YOU! Each part needs acknowledgement, encouragement, love, and respect. When we hold space for our bodies, we allow them to do what they do best. In learning to tune into our bodies, we have the opportunity to build valuable relationships with them. In doing so, we can become the best teammates that support and lift each other up so together, we can become all that we can be.
During your treatment, I like to help you increase your awareness. This (along with the rest of the treatment) will look different depending on the individual's needs.
I work with breath as it is our life force and the first most important thing we can do for ourselves. Because of stressors we are faced with in life, we often forget how to breathe. How to do it with ease, to fully expand ourselves into accepting it in. We even sometimes find ourselves holding it completely. When we focus on it, we can feel more alive, whole, and at peace...which is something I think we are all searching for.
I also work with imagery. This is a tool used to identify what the body is holding onto that contributes to feelings of heaviness, fear, confusion, depression, anxiety, and any other unpleasant state. Then we can release the heavy, and bring in the light. This can look like me asking what the first colour is that comes to you, or what the first emotion is that you feel when I ask. Then I help guide you through an "imagery" process where we create scenes in your mind's eye to be able to help you feel better. They don't have to "make sense" in the moment, but the mind thinks in pictures and will better cooperate when things are made simple and more tangible this way.
Sometimes the body won't get better physically until an emotional aspect is acknowledged, no matter how hard we try. Our bodies use pain as a cry for help and attention, and will only get louder until heard.
My goal is to show you how capable you really are in your own goals. To help initiate this relationship with yourself so you can access healing even when I'm not around to help. I want to leave you feeling strong, empowered, and connected. Excited about you, about life, and all it has to offer. Knowing yourself really is your super power.
So what do you say, shall we begin?

Sound Therapy
Sound therapy has been a part of civilizations all over the world for thousands of years to help balance the body and create harmony within.

At an atomic level we find that each element is in a state of constant vibration. Depending on the vibration, atoms will produce mass, liquid, or gas. If everything is in a state of vibration, this means that everything has a specific frequency, and can therefore influence and be influenced by it. There are frequencies for healthy cells, as well as for unhealthy cells. If the body is unwell, we can give it a higher frequency which will affect its function. Because of the law of resonance, the body will start to match the higher frequency presented and can become well again.
There are clinical studies along with anecdotal evidence that shows how sound therapy (a.k.a certain vibrational frequencies) affect the body. There have been findings of positive affects on the parasympathetic nervous system, (rest and digest state) decreased pain, and increased blood flow and more!
Here are some videos that explain how energetic frequencies work.
Tuning Forks:
There are all different types of tuning forks. There are ones that can tune a piano, or that medical practitioners can use to see if a bone has been fractured, or use to test hearing. They can also be used for Massage Therapy!
Tuning forks are tuned in hertz frequency which is the measurement of sound. When the two dials at the top are hit, they activate a vibration that is sent down through the fork into the body. They aid in decreasing muscle tightness, knots, and pain! I love using them in my practice because it is quick, painless, effective, and can be used with any treatment.

Crystal Singing Bowl
My crystal singing bowl is tuned to a "D" in 432 hertz frequency. The bowl starts to sing when played with a wand following the edge of the bowl. It feels that the sound is heard by more than just your ears, it is a whole body experience. It feels like a little piece of heaven gifted to us to help fill us so that we can carry on with our lives more light, feeling a little more complete.
I like to play the bowl and sing with it for a few minutes for my clients after a treatment if they like to let all the goodness and healing soak in!
Crystals

Crystals can conduct electrical charges and are used in many devices we use daily like our phones!
Quartz crystal is used to keep track of the time and frequency of signals in the phone.
Crystals vibrate at different frequencies but unlike crystal singing bowls, do not give off a sound we can hear. They are however, still helpful during treatments. They can help to ground our energy, calm us down, help us clear our fears and heavy weighted emotions we carry, or give us something tangible to hold onto when we want to savour the goodness and healing we let in. They work even better when we put our focused intentions into them.
All crystals used during therapy (as well as the room) are cleared before and after each client to make sure each person has a safe space of clarity, light, and healing.
Nutrition
In order to be well spiritually, we need to take care of our bodies. Food can nourish and give us the energy, clarity, and life we all desire. Understanding how to take care of our bodies on the physical level opens us up to understanding how to take care of ourselves spiritually too.
Our bodies are like houses that we need to learn to build, take care of, and maintain. Nutrients are like supplies needed to build. If we do not have the proper supplies needed, we will not be able to build the home as strong as it could be. Where do we get the supplies/nutrients? FOOD. If we are not getting all the nutrients we need in our food, that's where SUPPLEMENTS can help.

Each person is so unique in what kind of eating habits will help them to feel their best, but we all need to consume the foundational building blocks which are: protein, fats, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, and of course, water! Most of us are very depleted, and even when eating the "healthy" our guts often have a hard time digesting and absorbing them because of our modern life-style, food quality, and eating habits.
STRESS is also a huge culprit of nutrient deficiencies. During treatments I give you tools to be able to address the emotional aspect of depletion but can also give you advice on how to best support your body and reach your goals by using food and supplementation.
If you have sore and tight muscles and are inflamed, the top 2 supplements I usually recommend are:
-
MAGNESIUM CITRATE (mineral) & 2. OMEGA 3 FISH OILS. (healthy fat) ------> (click on links to see recommended types)
They are great to take the week before your appointment to get maximum success out of your treatment! If you are unsure of how much to take, ask me to help you find the best amount for what you need!
*I do not currently put together customized health and nutrition plans for clients anymore, but I do consult with clients during a session if applicable.*
